I would always take the remote work myself. Unless one is highly motivated, it seems that promotions are often a glorified way to work more for less. Take my niece, for example, a 22-year-old woman working at a major grocery store. They offered her the lead position in her department. Sounds great, right? Not quite. She received a mere fifty-cent raise, from $14.50 to $15.00. Now, she has to work additional hours managing potential issues in her department, such as staff calling in sick or leaving early for emergencies. Moreover, accepting the position means she must agree to relocate to another store whenever management decides, without any say in the matter. Some might argue that overtime is a great benefit, but everything comes with sacrifices; nothing is truly free. After all, our time is finite and cannot be bought. The freedom to work from home is almost incalculable.
